Why You Should Still Create: Even If It’s All Been Said

If you look around you right now, you will find an item (clothing, cup, pillow, car, e.t.c) that has a kind of variation that exist in the world out there, what this simply means is, most things you come across today may not be the only version of that item you see in a lifetime, there would possibly be more of that in the future.
This analogy applies to us as humans, we may find ourselves having opinions, thoughts and interests in a topic or subject. There are some people who may have turned those abstract ideas into some sort of physical or digital creation. On the other hand, there are people who feel others have created an idea they had in mind, therefore, it won’t be relevant if they move forward with it.
In this article, i share my view on why you need to bring that idea to life even if other people may have created the idea, written a post, shot a Youtube or TikTok Video that relates to what you want to do.
The Common Doubt
I was in a recent conversation with a group of colleagues and a question was asked
“Do you see yourself becoming a Content Creator?“.
I found this to be an interesting question. One of the responses were:
“I don’t think i would, people have said everything, there is nothing left for me to say“.
Although I respect this opinion, i strongly disagree with this perspective. Here is why: As humans, we are all created with unique perspectives and viewpoints. Two people may embark on an adventure, let’s say a “boat ride” and be asked to narrate their experiences at the end. Do you think they would explain everything that happened word-for-word? If your answer, was “No”, you guessed correctly.
This simple example indicates a truth: No two people share the exact same experience, there would always be a variation.
What Makes Your Voice Different
You have lived until this moment and built unique life experiences, if you have ever wanted to create a idea (podcast, blog post, Youtube, TikTok etc) and never done it due to the thoughts that someone may have done it, i’m here to say that nobody in the entire world has the following like you:
- Your voice and energy
- Your humor
- The perspectives shaped by your background
That idea you have although not the “first” will always be unique in how you present and package it. Nobody can take that from you as it is your superpower (That is where creativity starts from, and how you channel that into the world unlocks a new level of growth).
From Competition to Contribution
Being the first to say something is a little bit overrated in my opinion. I believe a lot in growth and change, there would always be a new aspect to what have been said in the past. You know what’s more powerful? Being the one who says it in a way that finally clicks. Imagine someone struggling to understand an idea, and then your voice, phrasing, story makes it finally land for them. That’s real impact.
In the world we live in today, there is quite a huge emphasis on people with big social media followers and sometimes this comparisons may lead to being in an invisible competition with someone who may be ahead of you on a journey. This may deter you at the beginning but it should not hold you back.
The internet can feel crowded. But it’s not a pie where someone else having a slice means there’s less for you.
Here is another Truth
You’re not stealing attention or ideas, you’re adding value. Someone out there needs to hear your message your way and they’ll never hear it if you keep telling yourself it’s already been said.
You don’t have to be the “best” or “first”, you only just need to be you which you have being until this time.
While it remains true that it’s been said and done by someone else. It hasn’t been done by YOU.
Final Words
As Wayne Gretzky once said
“You miss 100% shots you don’t take”
As you explore your creative side by bringing an idea to life, you grow as a person, improve your skills, open doors to new opportunities.
I implore you to go start that channel, post on that blog, record that podcast, share your idea.
The world doesn’t need another creator. It needs you, showing up as yourself.
Until the next read,
Have a great time.
Ebuka.
